SAMUEL FEE GIVEN
Samuel Fee Given was born at Markstown, Cullybackey, on the 10th March 1845. He received his early education at the local National School and at Coleraine Model School. At the Model School he was trained as a pupil teacher and in 1862 he was appointed to be in charge of Tullygrawley National School but resigned this position in 1864 owing to ill health. It was during this time of enforced idleness that he produced most of his poems but sadly consumption weakened him and he passed away on 18th May 1867.
