THE GYPSIES’ DOG
Beside the gay red caravan
All day I jog along,
Guarding the old grey dame inside,
And listening to her song.
As other dogs I watch at play
I long with them to be,
But still I have to jog along,
There’s no such luck for me.
For little is the food I get,
And long the ways I go.
I travel on from morn till night
O’er mountains high and low.
