THE FOX AND THE GOAT
A silly young fox fell into a well, And how to get out he could not tell, A goat by chance was walking by, And in the well she heard the cry. “Come down, Miss Goat, the water’s so cool, It’s twice just as good as that in the pool, Come down and see I am telling no lies.” So the poor old goat being not very wise, Jumped into the well which was deep as the sea, Which made the old fox go chuckle with glee. Up he hopped on the back of the goat With wagging tail and dripping coat. With a smile on his face he said, Good-bye, And left the goat to stand and cry.
