SOJOURNERS

(1st Peter, 1:17)

Dear readers, this applies to you,

As likewise unto me,

And unto every living soul

Now crossing Life’s deep sea.

We come as little strangers here,

Whether wanted or not:

Sojourners on Life’s pilgrimage,

Which may be cold or hot.

God takes many dear infants home,

His Kingdom is of such

Whose journeys here have been but brief,

Still they are missed much.

When young we raise our castles high,

Which old age have not seen,

But the real time many now know

Is more the one between.

So much of after life depends

On what we learn in youth,

Which is very important now

That it should be the truth.

For millions in this world sojourn

Still on the downward way,

Not having heard that Jesus saves

Even all such as they,

But those who have and know God’s Word,

Yet disobedient live,

Sojourning in this troubled world

With no true peace to give.

Why is this so? many may ask,

Sojourners are the cause,

Because we don’t repent of sin,

Turn to God and His laws.

I pray so long as we sojourn

Pilgrims and strangers here,

We take Christ as our Saviour true,

And pass our time in fear.

“Old Adam.”
