THE HUMBLE PENNY

THE HUMBLE PENNY

Have you ever stopped and pondered over the coins you carry around
Just empty your purse or your pocket and see what you have found
You’ll find a simple little coin its value is not much
Not a lot to look at or even to feel or touch
It’s a simple one pence penny that might not mean a lot
But listen to this story it will give you food for thought
The chains resemble Satan when he gets you in his grip
The bars are for the prison cell if from your faith you slip.
The crown is for the crown of thorns which was placed on the Saviour’s head
The cross is where he was nailed to as for you and me he bled
Don’t disown the humble penny as it tells us a story true
Of the chains, the bars, the crown and the cross
We’ll remember our whole life through.
