MR RAYMOND COCHRANE

d

1937-2018

Although a textile designer by trade, art was Raymond Cochrane’s main interest throughout his early years, inspired by Mr R.L. Russell, headmaster of Tullygrawley School which he attended, progressing from drawing and wood engraving to landscapes.  Mostly self-taught, with just some tuition from other professional artists Raymond decided to become a professional artist in 1975.

With a large selection of material to paint, and with his distinctive style, use of colour and attention to detail Raymond specialises in Donegal scenery, the West of Ireland, the Glens of Antrim and the excellent material on our own door step, including the rivers Maine, Braid and Kellswater, which makes his work very attractive to not only local people but to people from all over the world.

Sadly Raymond passed away on the 5th October 2018 and is buried in Cullybackey Cemetery.
