MORNING

MORNING

On the hills the sun is rising;
Upwards towards it soars the skylark,
Soaring upwards to the sunrays,
To the welcome rays that rising
Brighten up the dark world slowly.
And the spotted thrush is singing,
Singing loudly on the beech-tree;
On the ash-tree sings the robin,
Sings his cheerful song of morning.
But the blackbird sings more loudly
On the hawthorn by the farmyard,
Where the morning work is started;
And the bees have started humming
Through the half-awakened flowers.
